The Franco-Lebanese film “The Lebanese Rocket Society” won Best Documentary at Doha Tribeca Film Festival (17 to 24 November), which won him a prize of $ 100,000.
Produced by George Schoucair (Abbout Productions) and Edouard Mauriat (Mille et une productions), Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige’s film tells a fabulous human adventure about space and Lebanon.
From 1960 to 1966, a space project was born in Lebanon. Several rockets were launched from the mountains surrounding Beirut by a group of students and experts. Manoug Manougian physics professor led this group and named it “The Lebanese Rocket Society.”
