May 9th will mark Jim Hodges’ fifth solo exhibition with CRG Gallery. The New York artist will exhibit recent work including wall murals, a fourteen part photographic work, a photo sculpture, sheet music collage drawings, a mirror mosaic on canvas, and two mirror-on-wall installations as well as works on paper from his recent residency at Dieu Donne Papermill, New York. Jim Hodges is well known for transforming common every-day materials such as silk flowers, paper napkins, silver chain, silk scarves, mirror and light bulbs into tableaus of unabashed beauty, resonant with metaphors. Hodges’ work has been widely exhibited in both the United States and Europe. The artist’s work will be the subject of a solo exhibition next year at the Tang Museum, Skidmore University.
Jim Hodges recently completed a residency at Dieu Donne Papermill where his work will also be on view through June 1.
A fully illustrated catalogue of the artist’s exhibition at the Tang Museum with an essay by Alan Schwartzman will be available this fall.
