Press Release

CRG is pleased to announce that our next exhibition will be new work by the Dutch artist, Kiki Lamers. For her first one-person exhibition in the United States, Ms. Lamers will present nine oil on canvas paintings. In this current body of work the artist continues her investigation of portraiture and the body. Her subjects are all children in bust pose or full length, naked and against a gray monochromatic background. These young sitters stare out wide-eyed with an unchildlike confidence. Their gazes seem filled with knowledge and an experience beyond their few years. Lamers avoids an inherent sentimentality in the subject matter; uneasiness arises from the juxtaposition of perceived innocence and implied awareness. This exhibition is made possible in part through the generous support of the Mondriaan Foundation, Amsterdam, for the Advancement of the Visual Arts, Design and Museums. There will be a reception for the artist Thursday October 14, from 6 to 8pm. Visual material is available upon request. Gallery Hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 11 – 6 PM For further information please contact: Carla Chammas, Richard Desroche or Glenn McMillan Next Exhibition: Cathleen Lewis, November 18 – December 18
