Landscapes have been around almost as long as painting. A new exhibition opening today at the O.C. Museum of Art explores the boundaries of the genre. with more than 50 actual and imagined landscapes in stitched fabrico beads, wax, metal, silk flowers and other unexpected materials. Pictured is “Surfing the Arctic Circle” (2003), a mixed media on canvas by Lisa Sanditz. “Landscape Confection” runs through May 7. OCMA is at 850 San Clemente Drive, Newport Beach. The Getty Center in Brentwood is still keeping busy. despite all the attention now focused on the Getty Villa. “Robert Adams: Landscapes of Harmony and Dissonance” opens Tuesday at the museum and runs through May 28. The photography exhibit chronicles 30 years of Adams’ work. conveying respect for the land. but also recording how urban and industrial growth have changed the environment.
